Michigan girl found dead before she was scheduled to testify against rapist
A Michigan teenager was found dead last month weeks before she would have testified against the man she had accused of raping her.
CBS affiliate WWMT reported that 16-year-old Mujey Dumbuya was supposed to testify against Quinn Anthony James, who was arrested just last week after he was accused of raping another girl back in 2014.

On January 24, Dumbuya was reported missing by her family after she left home to get on the bus to East Kentwood High School. However, she never arrived at the school. Her body was found four days later, and her family believes she was targeted.
While Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety investigators have not said how the teenage girl died, they said that the death was suspicious. And James is reportedly a person of interest in her death.

Dumbuya claimed that James had repeatedly forced her to have sex with him at multiple times since she was 15 years old. James, who was the uncle of her boyfriend and also worked for her school district, claimed that the sex was consensual.
Dumbuya told the news station that James had raped her in a car in the school parking lot. She said that he told her, “There is something about you. I could stop, but I just can’t,” just before he attacked her.

James pleaded not guilty to the multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct and was released on $100,000 bond shortly after he was arrested in November. He was also fired from his position with the school district at the time of his arrest.
Dumbuya was supposed to testify against James in court just nine weeks after her body was found.
James is back in jail now, on $500,000 bond, in a different case in which a girl claimed that he raped her in 2014. He has not been charged in the case of Dumbuya’s death.
