M’Baku is sexy, but Winston Duke is the real bae

Winston Duke’s scrumptious, veggie loving character M’Baku in Black Panther has left people salivating all over social media. M’Baku (literally) barks at colonizers, looks pretty fetching in a fur, and has no problem saving a strong sister or two when she’s in a pinch.

What’s not to love?

Black Panther may be PG-13, but the responses to M’Baku online have not been. This tweet pretty accurately encapsulates the thirst that has surrounded M’Baku and the other characters:

Some have even gone so far as to change their Twitter handles to more M’Baku focused names. We have gems like M’Baku’s Baby Mama, M’Baku’s Concubine, and the very subtle M’Baku’s Face is the Throne I Sit On.

That’s all completely understandable, M’Baku is a tall drink of water, but you know who gives M’Baku a run for his money? Winston Duke. He’s the man who plays M’Baku and honestly, he’s the real prize.

Black Panther marked the film debut for the 6’5, Yale-trained Trini. Since making his big splash, he’s been making the media rounds and we are so very thankful.

The movie he co-stars in, Black Panther, is steadily smashing box office records around the globe, but he still finds the time to support his fellow creatives. Here he is at the world premiere for Ava DuVernay‘s A Wrinkle in Time. So sweet, so thoughtful.
