Rick Ross reportedly hospitalized, possibly suffering from pneumonia

Rapper Rick Ross has been hospitalized and is being treated for respiratory troubles, possibly related to pneumonia.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, someone called 911 to report a person in distress who was “unresponsive with heavy breathing” who was “slobbing out the mouth” when the caller tried to wake him.

The caller also said that the person in distress had a history of seizures, which is true of Ross, who had two seizures on two flights in October 2011, prompting him to change his lifestyle as well as his diet and to drop around 100 pounds.

TMZ reported that when Ross came around, he was combative with law enforcement before being taken to the hospital.

Questions are still swirling about the incident, with TMZ also reporting one source as saying that the issues are heart-related. A family member also denied that Ross was hospitalized at all, but another source said that he had been told by a rep that Ross couldn’t make an appearance because he was in the hospital.

Ross on health and diet

Ross is no stranger to health scares.

In 2014, Ross sat down with ABC’s Sarah Haines to talk about how he had decided to change the way he lives his life after those two seizures. He said that he had no choice but to change if he wanted to be able to move forward.

“Sodas was the first thing I cut out. Most definitely. That was, majority of my sugar. The way I ate, you know, fast-food,” he said.

“You know, I feel I’m fat boy forever. I’m going to always be a fat boy. But it most definitely was just something I had to do, you know, for the better, you know. And I always enjoy my size. I love taking my shirt off, running around, you know … it was really a health issue for me.”

We wish Rick Ross a speedy recovery.
