Catherine Pugh, mayor of Baltimore, and Fox News Host Laura Ingraham got into a heated exchange last week.

According to The Baltimore Sun, things got test in a conversation who would pay for Baltimore students to attend a gun rally in DC. Mayor Pugh denied that the city would be paying as much as $100,000 for students to take a field trip to Washington. According to The Baltimore Sun, “We’re not funding,” the mayor said. “We’re providing assistance to young people to make sure they get to Washington, D.C., safely.”

While the $100,000 figure and the city’s role with the buses were widely reported Tuesday Pugh said Wednesday the city would try to raise private funds to help pay for the buses.

The tipping point came when Pugh said, “Get your facts straight, love. I don’t know if you’re trying to become the communications director for the Trump administration.”

“I don’t know why you’re getting personal, mayor,” Ingraham said. “I don’t know why you’re getting personal.”

Then Ingraham to take even more jabs at Mayor Pugh’s administration. The Baltimore Sun quoted Ingraham, “You just hired 20 new people including a new marketing director in your office. Teachers are being fired, personnel fired, and you’re shuttling people down to a rally. That doesn’t seem to make sense.”

Ingram battles Lebron James

Last month Laura Ingraham criticized Lebron James for sharing his opinions about political matters and the Trump administration, and said he should “shut up and dribble.”

The Cleveland Cavaliers star doubled down after NBA All-Star Game practice in Los Angeles about how vocal his is—and will continue to be—when it comes to the state of race relations in America.

“I will not just shut up and dribble,” James said during his media session. .”.. So, thank you, whatever her name is. … I get to sit up here and talk about what’s really important and how I can help change kids.”

James also put a #wewillnotshutupanddribble hashtag on his Instagram account to further make his point.

“It lets me know that everything I’ve been saying is correct for her to have that type of reaction,” James said of Ingraham. “But we will definitely not shut up and dribble. I will definitely not do that.

“I mean too much to society, I mean too much to the youth, I mean too much to so many kids that feel like they don’t have a way out and they need someone to help lead them out of the situation they’re in.”

Ingraham released a statement meant to clarify her comments.

“In 2003, I wrote a New York Times bestseller called ‘Shut Up & Sing,’ in which I criticized celebrities like the Dixie Chicks and Barbra Streisand, who were trashing then-President George W. Bush. I have used a variation of that title for more than 15 years to respond to performers who sound off on politics. If pro athletes and entertainers want to freelance as political pundits, then they should not be surprised when they’re called out for insulting politicians. There was no racial intent in my remarks ― false, defamatory charges of racism are a transparent attempt to immunize entertainment and sports elites from scrutiny and criticism.”
