Spring is finally starting to make an appearance (spring, is that you?!) and it’s safe to say we’re all ready for a new season.

Thankfully, fashion expert and the embodiment of #blackgirlmagic, Zerina Akers, is serving ideas for outfits the rest of us can enjoy this spring, with pops of color to complement our melanin.

Akers has been a stylist to the best in the game– from Queen Beyonce herself to our fave grown-ish sisters Chloe and Halle.

Zerina recently partnered with Dove Deodorant for their launch of their white-mark free Invisible Dry Spray (which works on 100 different colors btw!) to create a microsite for women that forecasts the hottest trends. In collaboration with industry experts at Fashion Snoops, the site makes it easy for women pick their favorite color on a chart under Wardrobe Refreshers.

Then you get a break down of the best colors to match, along with sample outfits, like this dope professional pairing of khaki with marigold.  Boom. Issa lewk!

“Adding a colorful blazer over your favorite winter styles and hues can change a whole outfit,” says Akers. “When it’s warmer out, drape the blazer over your shoulders to stay cool while rocking the same look.”

We love the idea of finding new looks in your closet without even having to get new pieces.

Akers also says the right accessory can take an outfit you already own to the next level.

“Invest in some brightly colored accessories, like fun earrings or silk scarves, to refresh your favorite winter looks.  [Mix] some of 2018’s vibrant colors with pieces you already own in some of last season’s more neutral tones.”

Sometimes it’s all about the right color, not about spending a ton of money.

If you’re into dresses, Akers has some ideas too.

“Transition your wardrobe this spring by introducing pieces like maxi dresses or skirts in pastel hues like lilac, periwinkle and rose,” she says. “This keeps your legs covered on cooler days but brings femininity and playfulness to any look.”
