Bill Cosby, who was recently convicted of three counts of aggravated indecent assault (which could land him in prison for up to 30 years, compared himself to Nelson Mandela, according to a Page Six report.

Page Six reporters say they have been interviewing Cosby since his trial last year and agreed to only publish the content of the interviews after all legal proceedings ended. Now that that 80-year-old has been found guilty, the publication has released some of Cosby’s quotes.

One quote in particular has people scratching their heads. The comedian seems to compare his sexual assault trial and conviction and possible upcoming prison time with the experience of political prisoner Nelson Mandela.

“But, you know, I think back to the time when Camille and I went to visit Nelson Mandela in South Africa. He was a free man, but I remember when we met him at Robben Island where he had been in a prison for all of those years,” said Cosby.  “I sat in that cell where he lived, and I saw how he lived . . . what he had to eat to live and what he went through.

Time out.

Twitter wasn’t feeling that comparison.
