Barbados made history on Thursday when Mia Amor Mottley became the Caribbean island’s first female prime minister.

Superstar Rihanna, who was born and raised in Barbados, took to Instagram to congratulate Mottley on her landslide victory, reports Billboard.

“Say hello to my new prime minister and most importantly the FIRST FEMALE prime minister of Barbados … the honorable Prime Minister @mamottley,” she wrote. “Well deserved and about time! breaking barriers and making history in so many ways!!! Congratulations.”

Fans might recall when Rih Rih unofficially endorsed Mottley after her friend Leandra Goodride commented, “Watching my next Prime Minister all day on @Bajantube stories.” The Barbados native replied with, “Yes…. She deserves it!”

Mottley, a 52-year-old lawyer and head of the Barbados Labour Party, “will soon be sworn in as the country’s next prime minister after the party won all 30 seats in the country’s House of Assembly,” as reported by Huffington Post.

Major congrats to Prime Minster Mottley! Slay on.
