[griojw id=”qYOoCrhz” playerid=”GqX43ZoG”]Kiko Davis is taking the meaning of girl boss to a new level. She is the only African American female owner of a bank in the United States. Davis is the majority stakeholder of First Independence Bank – the 10th largest African-American bank of the total 23 in the country. USA Today states that Black banks stabilize the communities they serve and provide economic revitalization in distressed communities.

In 2017, rapper Killer Mike helped usher in the #bankblack movement. There is a lot of talk about what a modern-day Black wall street would look like; we can begin to see by investing in Black banks and Black-owned businesses like Davis.

Kiko says she is inspired by Shirley Chisholm, the first Black congresswoman, and her late husband, Donald Davis. She created a foundation in his name to continue his legacy building efforts and initiatives.
