Well let’s hope that’s the trajectory of the storyline in the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong, where Black Panther star Danai Gurira is said to be in talks to take on a pivotal role. Yes, our Wakandan sister just might be fighting an oversized ape and a mutated dinosaur, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Details of Gurira’s character is kept under lock and key, but we can dream.

About the film:

“Legendary Entertainment’s Godzilla vs. Kong will be a crossover event putting together two of the most popular movie monsters of all time. It is being directed by Death Note filmmaker Adam Wingard. The film will follow Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017) and the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which is set to open May 31, 2019.”

Danai Gurira has gained popularity as the Wakandan general Okoye in February’s box-office hit Black Panther. She returned in that role in April’s Avengers: Infinity War. But Gurira isn’t new to the scene and plays Michonne on AMC’s Walking Dead.

Godzilla vs. Kong is due out May 22, 2020.

And Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o will also reunite with her Black Panther costar Gurira, for a TV adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Americanah.

Nyong’o has reportedly had the rights to the critically acclaimed novel about two lovers ripped apart during a migration to the West from Nigeria for quite some time and originally planned to turn the novel into a movie.
