Is Chance the Rapper planning to become a media mogul?

The Chicago based rapper and philanthropist has purchased Chicagoist, described as a local news, food and culture website, according to a report from the sister site the Gothamist.

White parents of two adopted Black children arrested for horrific treatment–they were starved and forced to use a bucket as a toilet

In a statement, Chance said: “I’m extremely excited to be continuing the work of the Chicagoist, an integral local platform for Chicago news, events and entertainment. WNYC’s commitment to finding homes for the -ist brands, including Chicagoist, was an essential part of continuing the legacy and integrity of the site. I look forward to re-launching it and bringing the people of Chicago an independent media outlet focused on amplifying diverse voices and content.”

Chance did boast about the buy previously in his new song “I Might Need Security” when he said: “I got a hit-list so long I don’t know how to finish, I bought the Chicagoist just to run you racist bitches out of business.” But who knew his art was actually imitating real life with his recent acquisition.

Chance the Rapper surprised his fans today with four new tracks.

The songs, which are available to stream on all digital platforms, include “I Might Need Security,” “Work Out,” “65th & Ingleside,” and “Wala Cam” featuring Supa Bwe.

The Chicagoist was purchased by Chance’s Social Media LLC from the public radio station WYNC.

This has also been a pretty promising year for the rapper who recently got engaged to his girlfriend Kirsten Corley.

The Shade Room posted the video of Chance (whose real name is Chancelor Jonathan Bennett) surprising Corley on the fourth of July with his proposal

“Will you make me a man and be my wife?” Chance the Rapper asked Corley.

She, of course, said yes and Chance couldn’t wait to share the good news with his fans, writing on social media, “She said yes.”
