Family and friends are still searching for answers behind a Sept. 29th shooting that killed a 34-year-old Miami man who had just spent his Saturday watching his son’s youth football games.

Marquel Brooks was shot and killed in the Brownsville area of Northwest Miami. Another man, Joseph Anderson Jr., 23, was also wounded in the shooting.

“We’re just heartbroken right now,” Sarita Lamb, the victim’s cousin, told Local 10 News.

Brooks’ girlfriend said he attended his son’s junior league football game before he was shot. Photos taken earlier in the day show Brooks’ son napping at his father’s side on the bus ride home.

“His son is his best friend in the whole wide world,” Torod Allen, Brooks’ brother, said. “We just need to know who did this. We’re not giving up until we find out who did this.”

His death sent shockwaves through Miami as remembrances poured in on social media. “Uncle” Luke Campbell, who runs the youth league that Brooks’ son plays in, sent condolences on Twitter.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Miami-Dade Police Department at 305-547-2400 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
