Your daily 60-second news recap.

Television icon and media mogul Oprah Winfrey traveled to Georgia to advocate for gubernatorial candidate, Stacey Abrams. Winfrey made a special appearance at the town hall and went door-to-door canvassing. If elected, Abrams could be the first African American woman in US history to hold the governor’s office.

Florida Gubernatorial candidate, Andrew Gillum, has also received major support. Former President Barack Obama will be heading to Miami to urge more voters to support Gillum. Adding to the list is actor Gabrielle Union, actor Kendrick Sampson, and director Lee Daniels, who have all spoke out in support of Gillum.

BlackPAC has invested $72,000 of radio airtime to promote Senator Claire McCaskill, who is running for a third term and currently in a tight race. They’re just one of a few black political action committees putting their money where their mouth is to create change.
