It looks like Robin Thede will be making a triumphant return to the small screen and we can’t wait.
Although BET pulled the plug on Thede’s groundbreaking, late-night show, The Rundown with Robin Thede after one season, this woman is on her way back into our homes. According to Variety, Thede is working on a comedy series for ABC that is based on her own childhood.
The network is developing the comedy series that stars Robin Thede who also serves as the writer and executive producer.
According to the outlet:
Written by Thede, the project is inspired in part by her childhood growing up dirt poor in a trailer park. The show will explore how a difficult upbringing shaped Robin Sanders (Thede), a famous and successful financial advisor, and will vacillate between the character’s adulthood and childhood as it examines how your past always pops up in the present.
Now that Kenya Barris has officially parted ways with ABC and headed to Netflix, it’s nice to know there is some new content on the way from a smart, forward-thinking Black woman like Robin Thede.
We’re still on the fence about how black-ish will fare without its fearless leader, and There’s currently untitled show could be a great addition to the network’s lineup.
