Bruno Mars closes world tour with pre-Thanksgiving fundraiser

“We are humbled and honored by this generous donation from Hawaii’s own Bruno Mars,” Salvation Army Major Jeff Martin said in a statement.

After almost two years and 200 shows, Bruno Mars will close out his “24K Magic World Tour” tonight in his hometown of Honolulu where he will also provide meals to 24,000 Hawaiians in need during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

The pop star announced plans Sunday morning to make the donation through the Salvation Army’s Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Division’s 48th annual Thanksgiving Dinner meal program. The 24,000 goal is a nod to the hit album “24K Magic.”

“We are humbled and honored by this generous donation from Hawaii’s own Bruno Mars,” Salvation Army Major Jeff Martin said in a statement. “Because of his amazing gift, 24,000 meals will be provided to those in need on this Thanksgiving holiday in Hawaii. Bruno is a shining example of how people in Hawaii step forward and take care of one another and we are grateful to him for his aloha and kokua.”

Each year, The Salvation Army provides a free Thanksgiving dinner to families across the state, including serving over 2,000 attendees at Blaisdell Center on Oahu. Over 900 volunteers support the effort through donations of time, resources, and treasure.

The donation will also allow the program to include more residents who are homebound for the first time. The tour began in 2017 and spanned the globe across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

The tour ends tonight, closing out its run having sold-out all three nights at Aloha Stadium. He is the first to sell out the football stadium three straight nights, surpassing both U2 and the late Michael Jackson’s two-night stands. To date, it has grossed over $300 million worldwide.
