After this weekend’s NBA All Star game, Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry sat for a post-game press conference and was asked about his favorite basketball movie.
When it comes to basketball flicks, there are many great classics to choose from. Spike Lee lovers might go with ‘He Got Game‘ (1998) or “White Men Can’t Jump‘ (1992). There’s feel good movies like ‘Coach Carter‘ (2005) and kid joints like ‘Space Jam’ (1996). Of course other 90s heads may opt for grittier classics like ‘Above The Rim,’ (1994) or the critically acclaimed documentary ‘Hoop Dreams’ (1994).
But Steph, a father of three (Riley, Ryan and Canon), who’s married to his youth church sweetheart Ayesha, gave an answer that showed his softer side. A movie that changed the game for many when they first saw it.

“That’s a great question,” Curry responded. “I’m a little soft. Probably “Love and Basketball.'”
“I’m a romantic at heart bro,” Curry explained with a smirk.
“Love and Basketball” (2000), the story of Monica (Sanaa Lathan) and Quincy’s (Omar Epps) childhood love for basketball-turned-lifelong love, captured all our hearts with a bomb soundtrack and dynamic performances by Lathan and Epps.
When word got back to “Love and Basketball” director Gina Prince Bythewood, she tweeted the perfect response:
Feel like I just drained a half court shot for the win. https://t.co/aRUNoEc8aX

The movie was her directorial debut and earned $27 million dollars at the box office, becoming one of the highest-earning films the weekend it hit big screen.
Prince Bythewood’s response sent fans of the cult classic down memory lane.
“Love & Basketball” is FOR SURE my wife’s favorite movie. I have no idea how many times she’s actually watched it. But, it’s definitely approaching the triple digits, if she’s not there already. REAL TALK!!
