Black History Month may be coming to a close, but women’s month is right around the corner, and Essence made sure to celebrate it with not one, not two, but three special cover girls.

Recently, three generations of excellence graced the cover of Essence as actress Jada Pinkett Smith (47), her daughter Willow Smith (18)  and Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield Norris (65) were all picked to be featured in the magazine’s upcoming March issue.

The trio of women not only share an amazing gene pool, but they also share co-hosting duties on the show Red Table Talk, an online-streaming talk show.  Instead of sitting behind a desk and shooting questions at guests, everyone sits around a table, creating a homely atmosphere that promotes organic conversations versus the typical Q&A.   Essence applauded the unique dynamic of the show, by titling the March issue, “Talk is Chic.” In a sneak peak of the full interview, Jada opened up about the series, saying:

“Everybody has a place at the table because there’s not just one perspective. That’s what makes the show awesome to me.”

Besides Pinkett-Smith’s welcoming persona, another gem about the show is the actress’ mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, affectionately called “Gammy,” by granddaughter Willow and fans. Adrienne, who was a teen mom when she had Jada, has inspired viewers with both her wisdom and her transparency. Adrienne has combatted both domestic violence and addiction, and is now celebrating 27 years of sobriety.

Coincidentally, according to Jada, it was “Gammy’s dream,” to land a cover of Essence   “Gammy’s dream was to be on the cover of @Essence and our Essence fam made it come true. Thank you Essence and @warwicksaint who is one of my favorite photographers to work with! You really did us right!”   ESSENCE’s March cover hits newsstands February 22!
