After having trouble with fertility former football player Devon Still and his wife are expecting a bundle of joy!
According to PEOPLE, Still and his wife is expecting their first child together. The couple has been married since 2016, but are no strangers to the parenting world. Still has an 8-year-old daughter, Leah, from a previous relationship.
Leah was only 4-years-old when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma in June 2014. Due to Leah’s cancer Still decided to take time away from the NFL in order to take care of her. At the time the Cincinnati Bengals decided to keep him on the practice roster so he could maintain health insurance for Leah.

Still explains that fear of his next child’s health is what kept him back from having another child. “Because of the health scare with Leah, that’s what made us put off [having kids for] so long since our wedding. Her cancer diagnosis really flipped our world upside down and a lot of things were chaotic in our everyday struggles,” Devon said. “I honestly was scared to have another kid because of what happened to Leah.”
However, a new day is on the horizon, Leah has a younger sibling on the way and she has been in remission since 2015 and is on the path to be completely cancer free by 2020.
This family is definitely no stranger to hardships because when Asha and Still first tried to conceive they had a tough time. They eventually started using Clearblue Connected Ovulation Test System to aid them in tracking her ovulation and cycle. After months of tracking, the couple found out Asha was first pregnant in January.
“Being able to track my cycle from day to day and to get those results that I was at my peak fertility, that’s exactly what we needed,” Asha shared.
When she finally took the pregnancy test, Devon was eager to see the test results first.
“When I walked into the bathroom and looked at the test, I was shocked,” he said. “I broke down crying because not only did Asha want this really bad, but so did I and it was finally time.”
Although they are excited about the baby on the way, they have decided you won’t see any over the top gender reveals from this family, they want to wait until the child is born to see the sex.

“The biggest thing for us is not gender, but just having a healthy baby,” Devon tOLD PEOPLE, his wife then added, “We want to embrace that moment and find out right when I deliver; it’ll be very emotional.”
Although the parents want to be surprised by the sex, older sister-to-be, Leah wants her younger sibling to be a girl named Michelle. Devon shared, “She wants to name her Michelle either because of Michelle Obama or because of [Michelle Tanner from] Full House.”
No matter what the sex is, they excited about the new baby’s arrival and are thankful for everything they have.
