Kimora Lee Simmons’ and Russell Simmons’ daughter Aoki accepted to Harvard at 16 years old

Kimora Lee Simmons and ex-husband Russell Simmons announced that their daughter, Aoki Lee Simmons was accepted into Harvard University at 16 years old.
Kimora Lee Simmons and ex-husband Russell Simmons could not contain their excitement after learning that their daughter, Aoki Lee Simmons was accepted into Harvard University at 16 years old.
Kimora excitedly announced the news on her Instagram through multiple videos and pictures. In one video she, her son Kenzo, whom she shares with ex-beau Dijimon Honsou, reads Aoki’s acceptance letter aloud as his sister beams from the news.
“Yaaaayyyyy @aokileesimmons!! She’s on her way to #Harvard!! We are so proud of YOU!! Such hard work and only 16! You did it! It took years of super dedication and lots of tears! But HERE YOU ARE!!! GO GIRL!!!” Kimora wrote.
Kimora went on to brag that her daughter not only got into Harvard at 16, she was also accepted at Dartmouth, Vassar, Barnard and others.
“Enjoy the journey! We are excited to see the great things you will do! Sorry I’m one of those SUPERLOUD MAMAS,” Kimora added.
Aoki, who can be seen crying in a different video after she learned the news, also could not hold in her excitement as she shared the big news on her Instagram account as well.
“I’m only 16 and I’m going to Harvard baby!” Aoki wrote.
Kimora and Russell also took jabs at now infamous college admissions scandal that is alleged to have included actresses Laura Loughlin and Felicity Huffman. The two are accused of being involved in a scheme that involved several other wealthy people that paid for their children to be admitted into several prestigious universities and in Loughlin’s case, lying about their kids being involved in sports.
“So blessed @aokileesimmons made it into HARVARD and Kimora, Myself or Tim didn’t have to pull any strings or pay anyone to get her in ?she made it on her own academic merit,” Russell wrote on Instagram.
The big news follows Kimora’s announcement that she would be reviving the nostalgic clothing line Baby Phat this summer. And though Kimora’s daughter, Ming Lee, is also a college student, her two sons Kenzo and Wolf still have a way to go before they get their own acceptance letters.
“You don’t understand this has been a ride for me. I’m two out of two kids in college. I have two boys left, I don’t know if I can do it,” Kimora wrote. “Quite honestly [Aoki] really did it on her own merit and we’re so really proud.”
