Cuba Gooding Jr. sued for alleged hotel rape of woman in 2013
Gooding’s attorney called the allegations 'completely false and defamatory.'
Academy Award-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. has been sued by a woman who alleges that the actor raped her after coaxing her to his hotel room in 2013.
The suit was filed as Gooding is awaiting trial on charges of unwanted sexual touching. Last year, a woman told police that the actor squeezed her breast at a New York City bar. Two other women came forward with similar claims that resulted in three sets of groping charges.

The new civil suit was filed by a woman who is referred to in the filing as “Jane Doe.” The suit alleges that Gooding met the woman at a hotel in New York where they had drinks at the bar.
It alleges that when she tried to leave the actor’s hotel room, he blocked her way out and pushed her onto the bed and raped her.
The suit alleges that he raped her again as she tried to get away for a second time.
Gooding’s attorney called the allegations “completely false and defamatory.” He noted that the case never resulted in criminal charges. The anonymous woman is represented by longtime women’s rights attorney, Gloria Allred.
In his groping case, Gooding has been accused by more than 30 women of unwanted sexual touching, including a pattern of pinching the buttocks of female wait staff.
Gooding faces three counts of forcible touching and three counts of sex abuse to the third degree in separate incidents involving three different women in New York. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and denies any wrongdoing.

At a hearing last week, Gooding wore a black mask. When he unhooked it, CNN notes, the inside read “Black Lives Matter.”
Gooding’s trial was set to begin in April but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Another hearing is scheduled for Sept. 1.
