After years of legal proceedings, the award-nominated R&B singer and ex-NBA player Daniel Gibson have finalized their split.

After years of legal proceedings, R&B singer Keyshia Cole and former NBA player Daniel Gibson have settled their divorce.

The Grammy Award-nominated soulstress says she’s excited she can move on with her life following a split that took almost three years to be finalized. Cole expressed relief in an Instagram post, displaying deep gratitude for their settlement being reached.

“I’m so damn happy my divorce is Finally, Final! This is not a Shade Post Promise! Just a genuinely happy post, that that weight is lifted from over both our heads,” she wrote, captioning a picture of herself seated in full joy mode.

Cole and Gibson married in 2011; they had a son together the previous year. Six years and several reality shows later, Cole filed for divorce.

“Keyshia & Daniel: Family First,” a BET reality show focusing on their new family, debuted in Oct. 2012. It ended that December.

Cole cited the reason for their separation as irreconcilable differences, requesting joint physical and legal custody of their son, Daniel Gibson Jr. She listed the couple’s separation date as October 31, 2014.

According to The Blast, Gibson didn’t respond to Cole’s complaint until months later. Once he did respond, their case continued to drag on because both parties could not agree, especially as it pertained to child support and custody of their child.

At one point, the reality TV stars stopped showing up to court. After their fourth and final notice, they were mandated to appear or face fines. This month, they reached an agreement, three years since their divorce proceedings began.

Per the terms of their agreement, neither Cole nor her ex-husband are mandated to pay each other spousal alimony or child support.

Her fans on Twitter shared their congratulations.
