Tamar Braxton’s boyfriend files restraining order against the singer

Tamar Braxton's boyfriend David Adefeso claims a domestic violence situation occurred and is seeking a restraining order against her

2020 has been a heck of a year for the majority of the world and Tamar Braxton is no exception. The reality star’s boyfriend, David Adefeso, recently asked the court for an order of protection against her.

Adefeso claims the issue as a “domestic violence situation.” The allegations are unclear but on Tuesday he filed the order of protection with the L.A. courthouse. According to TMZ, the order has yet to be approved.

But Braxton claims she was not abusive to Adefeso and only acted in self-defense. According to The Blast, the couple were in a car on their way to check Braxton into a mental health center when they got into a heated argument. Allegedly Adefeso grabbed the singer so hard he left bruises on her arms after Braxton told him she believed he was “around for the wrong reasons and could not be trusted,” after Adefeso posted a photo of her 7-year-old son.

An infuriated Adefeso allegedly told Braxton, they were going to “end up in a ‘murder-suicide.”

Sources told The Blast, “Any claims that Ms. Braxton was the aggressor and/or abusive are completely false and have no merit. David Adefeso has been upset and abusive since seeing his own true colors on Tamar’s upcoming television show and has been taking it out on Tamar ever since.”

This incident is another added to the string of unfortunate events that have plagued Braxton this year. theGrio reported in July Braxton attempted to commit suicide. Adefeso was with her at the time and placed the call into 911 stating the singer was unresponsive. He went on to tell 911 operators she takes medication for depression and had taken alcohol.

The singer confirmed via Instagram she did attempt suicide and her mental stability had been shaky for a while. Once news broke of the attempt, celebrities and fans came together to show support for the singer. In return, Braxton released these words to her Instagram account.

“Thank you to each and every individual who has prayed for me, thought of me, sent me their love and has showered me with their support. In this present moment, it is my only responsibility to be real with myself and to be real with the ones who truly love me and care for my healing,” she wrote.

She added, “I have without fail, shared with you my brightest days, and I know that sharing with you what has been my darkest will be the light for any man or woman who is feeling the same defeat I felt just only a week ago.”

Adefeso is Braxton’s first public relationship since her divorce from music executive, Vincent Herbert. According to TMZ, Braxton has “changed since getting with him — claiming her mood seems to align with his.” But their sources also claim, “David has come off as controlling in Tamar’s reality show, and that he’s been quite involved in her business decisions of late.”
