ESPN’s The Undefeated reports the Milwaukee Bucks forward shared the news after his team’s 2020 season came to an end. The No. 1 ranked team went down against the Miami Heat, 103-94.

“I’ve been very blessed. God has been very, very good to me,” Williams said to the outlet.

Williams began his NBA career in 2005 as the second overall draft pick to the Atlanta Hawks where he played seven seasons. Following his career in Atlanta, the athlete was traded to the Utah Jazz. He played there for two seasons before joining the Charlotte Hornets in 2014. He made his last transfer in 2020 when joining the Bucks.

In his final game, he earned 11 points and eight rebounds. According to ESPN, Williams, 34, averaged 10.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in a total of 1072 NBA games.

His final team shared a congratulatory message on Twitter following the news.

Andre Iguodala, Miami Heat small forward and shooting guard also sent an uplifting message to Williams via Twitter after his team advanced to the next round.

“Your mind is free now!” he tells the now-retired basketball player.

The Milwaukee Bucks ended their season in the quarantined bubble set up by the NBA to keep athletes, journalists, and other industry professionals safe amid the coronavirus pandemic. Star player Giannis Antetokounmpo did not play in game 5 due to an injured ankle.

Milwaukee Bucks player Kyle Korver is reportedly also considering retiring from the sport. ESPN’s The Undefeated says the now unrestricted free agent is consulting with family before making a decision.
