According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, it could be another year or so before our society gets back to normal.

Fauci told Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC on Friday, “if you’re talking about getting back to a degree of normality which resembles where we were prior to COVID, it’s going to be well into 2021, maybe even towards the end of 2021.”

There have been talks of a vaccine that could stop the spread of the virus since the spring but as of Friday the United States is one of the leaders in the number of coronavirus cases. The US has 6.3 million cases and 200,000 coronavirus deaths and the doctor says a vaccine could make all the difference in reducing those numbers.

“I believe that we will have a vaccine that will be available by the end of this year, the beginning of next year,” he said.

In the same interview he also told Mitchell he disagrees with President Trump’s statement of saying we haverounded the final turn” of the virus.

“I’m sorry, but I have to disagree with that because — if you look at the thing that you just mentioned — the statistics,” said Fauci, “Andrea, they’re disturbing.”

The coronavirus has dramatically changed the way we live and operate on a day to day bases so society is ready to get back to normal. Many children are being homeschooled and droves of parents are being mandated to work from home. Most live events and social gatherings have been canceled and some health experts say sex with a mask is necessary.

But according to Fauci, we will get back to normal.

“By the time you mobilize the distribution of the vaccinations, and you get the majority, or more, of the population vaccinated and protected, that’s likely not going to happen to the mid or end of 2021.”
