Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is expecting his first child with his fiancée Brittany Matthews

The personal trainer shared two photos of the happy couple holding up an image of a sonogram on Instagram. The caption read, “Mom & Dad taking a small detour to the wedding,” with a heart emoji. 

Mahomes also shared an image of the sonogram on his Instagram, captioning the post with a heart emoji. 

The championship-winning quarterback proposed to his long time girlfriend earlier this month, following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl ring ceremony, the day after her birthday.

″My heart is so full! I love this man so incredibly much and today was so so special!″ Matthews, a former pro soccer player, wrote on Instagram at the time. ″Couldn’t imagine this day being any more perfect.”

After the Chiefs’ historic Super Bowl win in February, Matthews shared on Instagram, “I am so beyond proud of this dude and this team, all year it was about battling, amazing comebacks and overcoming an injury, and for that, YOU DESERVE THIS.”

In July, the Chiefs signed Mahomes to a 10-year contract extension through the 2031 NFL season, a deal worth $450 million. 

The extension brings the total potential value of Mahomes’ current contract to as much as $503 million between the 2020 and 2031 NFL seasons, according to ESPN and NFL Network.

On Instagram, Mahomes’ agent Chris Cabott celebrated the historic nature of the massive contract. “First half billion-dollar player in sports history,” he wrote. “Largest contract in sports history. First time NFL player has been the highest-paid player in sports history.” 

During the signing, Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid said, “I’ve had the privilege of coaching a lot of incredible athletes and special people in my career, and Patrick is without question on that list of players. The best part is he’s still early in his career.”

The Chiefs are 3-0 this season.
