Kelly Rowland announces she’s pregnant with second child

Rowland revealed that she's pregnant again with a gorgeous cover shoot for Women’s Health magazine.

Singer Kelly Rowland announced that she is expecting her second child with a gorgeous cover shoot for Women’s Health

The magazine and Rowland both announced the cover — and subsequently, the pregnancy — on their respective Instagram pages this morning.

Rowland and her husband, Tim Weatherspoon, have a five-year-old son, Titan. In the article, she told the magazine that the two had been “loosely” talking about adding to their family when the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent quarantine happened.

To her surprise, she got pregnant right away.

Currently filming a Lifetime movie in Vancouver, British Columbia, Rowland said she was nervous about making her joyous announcement amid the pandemic, economic downturn and months of racial reckoning in the wake of police slayings. However, she said she wanted to “remind people that life is important.”

At 39, she is grateful to be able to carry a child. “I’m knocking at 40’s door in February,” she said. “Taking care of myself means a lot to me.”

Predictably, much of Rowland’s interview focuses on her health routine. Known for her fit body, she shared that pre-pregnancy, she works out for 90 minutes almost every day. She told the magazine she generally maintains a low-carb diet and drinks about a gallon of water per day.

She said her fitness schedule has been different during her second pregnancy, telling Women’s Health that with her new baby, she’s mostly sticking to yoga, walks and stretches aided by a physical therapist.

In addition to a baby on the way, Rowland is also working on new music. She’s planning her fifth solo album after releasing a single, “Coffee,” earlier this year. She adds that she’s using the music as catharsis.

Like most things in her life, she said, her music will feel “very organic.”
