Black women are some of the wealthiest members of this year’s Forbes Richest Self-Made Women Under 40 List.

Most of Rihanna’s wealth lies in her cosmetics line, Fenty Beauty (a venture with luxury goods group LVMH), and her Savage x Fenty lingerie line, which is co-owned by Techstyle Fashion Company.
“We have this amazing emotional connection with customers who’ve never been able to find their shade of foundation before,” Rihanna told Vogue in 2017. “Seeing women crying at the makeup counter, it’s crazy to even think about.”
Rihanna is also making a huge difference with her charitable organization, Clara Lionel Foundation, which has donated $22.5M this year just for coronavirus relief.
Beyoncé Knowles Carter, 39, made the list with a net worth of $420M – a $20M increase since last year. Last month, after partnering with the NAACP, Beyonce donated $1M to assist Black-owned small businesses. According to Forbes, Beyoncé was the first Black woman to headline the Coachella festival, and her performance was the most-ever streamed Coachella Video on YouTube.
The Houston native’s Ivy Park partnership with Adidas and her voicing of Nala for the live-action Lion King remake also contributed to her wealth.
Tennis icon Serena Williams, 39, joins her music peers with a net worth of $225M. Prize money from the numerous titles Williams has won throughout her career has played an important role in her wealth. Additionally, her fashion line, ‘S by Serena’, and her numerous endorsements have also added to her bottom line.
