The controversial Netflix film 'Cuties' is up for Best International Feature at the 2020 Gotham Awards
The 2020 Independent Film Project (IFP) has just announced the 2020 Gotham Award nominees and the list is impressive to say the least.
Only films with budgets under $35 million are eligible for awards and a few of our faves made the cut.
Chadwick Boseman received his first post-humous nod of the season, earning an nomination for Best Actor for his work in the upcoming Netflix film, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
Radha Blank scored two noms for Forty-Year-Old Version including Best Screenplay and the Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director Award. She’s up against Channing Godfrey Peoples in the category who earned a nod for Miss Juneteenth. The film’s star, Nicole Beharie, also earned a nomination for Best Actress for the film.
Garrett Bradley’s Time earned a nod for Best Documentary while the controversial Netflix film Cuties (Mignonnes) is up for Best International Feature.
On the television side, I May Destroy You nabbed a nomination for Breakthrough Series (short format) along with Dave and Betty while Watchmen and P-Valley are included in the Breakthrough Series (long format) category.
