Will Smith unveils first ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ reunion trailer + release date

The 30th anniversary special for 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' will premiere this month on HBO Max

Will Smith unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion on Friday and we finally know when it will hit HBO Max.

In it, we see that the Banks family is reunited for the 30th anniversary special, including the original Aunt Viv, Janet Hubert.

That means we’ll get to see Smith joined by Alfonso Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, and Daphne Maxwell Reid, as well as DJ Jazzy Jeff. Of course, the late James Avery who played the beloved Uncle Phil on the series will be deeply missed.

Aside from the reunion special, there’s a Fresh Prince drama series in development at Peacock. As theGrio reported in August, the new show already received a two-season order and is based on a video that went viral in 2019 and will be executive produced by Smith.

Here’s the series description:

Set in modern-day America, Bel-Air is a serialized one-hour dramatic analogue of the ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that leans into the original premise: Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. With a reimagined vision, Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to the reunion special described as “a funny and heartfelt night full of music, dancing, and special surprise guests, in honor of the series that ran for six seasons and 148 episodes.”

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion premieres November 19 on HBO Max.
