Giuliani says Trump was being ‘sarcastic’ when he acknowledged Biden win
Dismissive of the final election result, Trump, says Giuliani, is 'contesting it vigorously in the courts.'
Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City and personal attorney of President Donald Trump, says his boss was being “sarcastic” when he tweeted that Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election.
“What he’s saying is more, I guess you would call it sarcastic or a comment on the terrible times in which we live, in which the media has said he won, but by going on to point out that it was illegal,” Giuliani said on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures. “Obviously, he’s contesting it vigorously in the courts.”
On Sunday, Trump tweeted, “He won because the Election was Rigged. NO VOTE WATCHERS OR OBSERVERS allowed, vote tabulated by a Radical Left privately owned company, Dominion, with a bad reputation & bum equipment that couldn’t even qualify for Texas (which I won by a lot!), the Fake & Silent Media, & more!”
The president later tweeted, “He only won in the eyes of the FAKE NEWS MEDIA. I concede NOTHING! We have a long way to go. This was a RIGGED ELECTION!”

Giuliani also blamed that familiar Trump target: the media.
“The media has tried to call the election, and they don’t have a legal right to call the election. It only, it gets decided by our electors, not by NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN and even Fox,” he contended. “You don’t get the right to call it. I don’t get the right to call it. So he’s contesting it vigorously.”

Trump has put Giuliani in charge of his post-election long-shot legal battle following the 2020 presidential race. Both Giuliani and the president spent the weekend tweeting wild conspiracy theories about election fraud, as well as photos from Saturday’s “Million MAGA March,” which found about 12,000 Trump supporters protesting in the Washington D.C. streets.
Violence erupted after dark. At least two dozen people were arrested in the District.
