A rundown of Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty shows

Rihanna launched her lingerie line, Savage × Fenty, back in 2018. Since then, she has been making boss moves in the industry and taking fashion to the next level.

The Savage x Fenty Show is a runway show showcasing Rihanna’s lingerie fashion collection. It features models, actresses, and dancers wearing some of her latest looks.

There is also behind-the-scenes footage of the show’s production and performances by a couple of music’s biggest performers.

The show gives a first-hand look into the creative process Rihanna went through with her lingerie collection. Rihanna is the show’s creative director and executive producer for the show’s Volume 2.

Savage × Fenty is a joint venture between TechStyle Fashion Group and Rihanna, valued at $1 billion as of 2021. It is a celebration of confidence, fearlessness, and inclusivity.

Savage × Fenty Vol. 1

The first event, titled Savage × Fenty Vol. 1, was filmed in front of a live crowd at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, in 2019. It features Rihanna alongside supermodels Cara Delevingne, Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, and Joan Smalls

There are appearances by Paloma Elsesser, Christian Combs, 21 Savage, and Normani, and performances by Migos, DJ Khaled, Halsey, Fat Joe, Big Sean, A$AP Ferg, and Fabolous. On September 20, 2019, Amazon Prime Video premiered The Savage X Fenty Show.

Savage × Fenty Vol. 2

The second show, titled Savage × Fenty Vol. 2, was shot over several days in September 2020 at the vacant Los Angeles Convention Center. On September 25, 2020, a trailer for Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 2 was posted, and it debuted on Amazon Prime Video on October 2, 2020.

Some of the celebrities featured on the runway for this show were Bella Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Normani, Christian Combs, Irina Shayk, Big Sean, Laura Harrier, Ryan Garcia, Willow Smith, Jaida Essence Hail, Paris Hilton, and Shea Coulee

Rihanna’s unique style stood out in the second show, just as it had in the first one. Some of the first designs in the show featured lingerie covered in her own handwriting, which she said was inspired by the idea of diaries.

One notable difference between the first show and the second one was the presence of more men in Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 2, giving more focus to boxers and briefs. The line featured men’s loungewear and underwear designed by Combs, Diddy‘s son. Though the line is targeted towards men, it can adapt to women’s wear.

Though filmed in the middle of the pandemic, the show and the collection showcased existed outside the reality of what was happening across the world at the time.

Awards

Other than gaining immense recognition, Rihanna has also won some awards for her Savage x Fenty show. In 2019, she won the Fashion Moment of the Year category in the BreakTheInternet Awards.

In 2020, she was nominated for Outstanding Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming Category in the Primetime Emmy Awards. She also won the Outstanding Fashion Show or Program category in the WOWIE Awards 2020.

With Rihanna teasing the new Fenty Parfum fragrance release, we can only expect great stuff from her both in fashion and in other ventures.
