Kyla Pratt and Julian Gant say working together is ‘ridiculously exciting’

Pratt and Gant play love interests in the popular sitcom "Call Me Kat" which airs Thursdays on Fox

One of the biggest comedies on TV is Fox’s Call Me Kat, and theGrio caught up with co-stars Kyla Pratt and Julian Gant to chat all about the sitcom’s second season, working with comedic talents like Mayim Bialik and more.

Premiering last year, Call Me Kat starring Bialik, Pratt, Gant, launched on Fox, earning some stellar ratings. Now in its second season, the series follows Bialik as a woman “who struggles every day against society and her mother to prove that she can live a happy and fulfilling life despite still being single at 39.”

“To be given a second chance for a second season is an amazing feeling,” Pratt said to theGrio. “It’s amazing because we have so many great adjustments for this season and now we get to actually meet and know the ensemble that is involved. Being able to work with these people is just so much fun, like everything, the next step is better than the last.”

For Gant, the show is also a bit of a pinch-me moment, especially with such a stacked cast of sitcom icons.

He told us, “I grew up watching Kyla Pratt, Mayim Bialik, Leslie Jordan, Cheyenne Jackson, Swoosie Kurtz and now we have Christopher Rivas. It’s like, you get to have so much fun with people that you trust. Now getting to know them, I love them all so much and I think it shows on the show!”

Call Me Kat presents new opportunities for Pratt, who has spent much of her life in the entertainment industry.

“I was very fortunate as a child to look at it as something fun to do, I didn’t think of it as a business,” she shared. “As I got older, I had to adapt that perception and now when I work, I just love to work on projects that I feel I can learn from. I love to do things that challenge me…I don’t ever want to be the smartest person in the room or the most experienced person in the room.”

“That’s the best part of this cast,” she added. “We all come from different backgrounds in life and in this industry. I hadn’t worked with anyone in this cast in the entire time that I’ve been in this business. Just to be able to watch them and learn everything from them…it’s an amazing thing when you get to love what you do but you also are surrounded by people who don’t even know that they’re constantly teaching you.”

TheGrio’s full interview with Pratt and Gant will be available to watch soon. Call Me Kat airs Thursdays at 9/8C on FOX.
