To say the 2022 Oscars made for a dramatic Sunday night would be an epic understatement. There may not have been many shocking wins, but it will not be a ceremony soon forgotten—and we can probably all agree the whole Moonlight/La La Land debacle of 2017 has now been well eclipsed. That said, the Oscars were only the beginning of the biggest night in Hollywood. Following the red carpet and awards ceremony, the stars took to the winners’ circle at one of the hottest after-events of the night: the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

Five biggest moments at the Oscars
Yes, of course, we know Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Oscar afterparty was likely the most coveted ticket of the evening. But despite the fact that the majority of VF’s invitees weren’t present for the ceremony, the annual event is nonetheless a requisite stop for celebs on Oscar night, as well as a rite of passage for rising stars. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to double down on Oscar fashion, as the sprawling Vanity Fair step-and-repeat begs for an equally glamorous, often edgier costume change.
On a night when Black performances—on and offscreen—were the main focus, Black beauty and excellence didn’t disappoint on VF’s navy carpet.
