For starters, a whole lot of people are just now returning from whence they came after spending an action-packed, very Black weekend in New Orleans for Essence Fest, or more formally, the Essence Festival of Culture. There was some online chatter about this year’s festival, but we had somebody on the ground providing perspective from the convention center and streets of the N.O.
What’s warm weather without folks having a thing or two to get up in arms about? For instance, warm weather means it’s cruise season, but…is it? Looks like a person or two had to clock the tea of a popular cruise line. Or maybe it’s not as bad as folks think? I guess, like most things, it all depends on your perspective.
There’s some fun news in the world of actresses we know and love! For instance, Meagan Good and her hubby, Jonathan Majors, have launched their first venture together, “Honor Culture,” that promises to be…interesting? We’re not quite sure what it is yet, but from the pictures, if it helps some of us look like they do health-wise, I’m guessing several folks will be all in.
And for those who appreciate more traditional forms of entertainment, fan-favorite Phylicia Rashad is joining the cast of season 3 of “The Gilded Age” as the series takes a look at the Black bourgeoisie. Sign me (us) up!
Summer is in full swing at this point, so hopefully we’re all able to find some joy and peace with family and friends, whether it be local or traveling around the world.
