Thankfully, when we need a little dose of entertainment and energy, the entertainers and superstars in our lives pull up and gift us little nuggets of joy (or shenanigans). For instance, Musiq Soulchild, who is arguably one of the greatest singles artists of all time—something we may need to explore at theGrio—helped a couple in Georgia celebrate their 10-year wedding anniversary and vow renewal by filling in for the groom and singing his wedding jam, “Dontchange,” surprising the bride as she thought her husband was singing. Nope, it was Musiq who has been telling us for the past 25 years, “aijustwanaseing.” Point taken.
On the shenanigans side of the ledger, Megan Thee Stallion continues to deal with the fallout from the Torey Lanez trial, legally that is. She’s conducting depositions of several high-profile figures who have spoken ill of her during the proceedings and serving them court papers in unique ways. What do I mean? I’m glad you asked. She recently served streamer Adin Ross papers for his deposition via…a mariachi band. Yeah, you read that right. See? Shenanigans.
And on the flowers side of things, shouts out Busta Rhymes for giving some posthumous flowers to Ananda Lewis at the 2025 MTV VMAs while he accepted an award. Lewis’ presence in the culture continues to resonate, and we’re all better for it.
