GASTONIA, N.C. – A Lowell pastor has been convicted with nine counts involving sexually abusing a young girl.

Keith Devon Pitts, former pastor of New Life Christian Center, was convicted — sentenced to between 20 and 24½ years in prison. His nine counts include sex offense of a child and taking indecent liberties with a child.

Pitts’ trial took place over five days last week. The verdict was reached Monday.

He was arrested in 2009 on charges he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl in his home in 2006, 2008 and then again, in 2009.
