Chris Serino, the lead homicide investigator in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, is changing jobs.

Serino, who filed a report indicating he did not believe the story told by George Zimmerman about his shooting of Martin, and who recommended Zimmerman be charged with manslaughter, requested reassignment to the patrol division, according to Sanford police. A press release issued by the Sanford Police Department Tuesday stated that “Officer Serino has made this decision of his own volition and will begin his new assignment on July 7, 2012.”

His pay and benefits will reportedly not be affected by the move.
