NBA players past and present are backing President Barack Obama in an official ad uploaded to You Tube Monday. The ad, entitled “The Greatest,” features current players Vince Carter, Juwan Howard, Harrison Barnes and Dahntay Jones. Former players such as Alonzo Mourning and Etan Thomas are also featured.

Former WNBA All-Star center Kym Hampton is the sole female voice in the ad, which totals one minute.

“I believe America is the greatest country in the world,” says former long-time Heat center Alonzo Mourning wearing what appears to be a custom ‘Obama 2012’ basketball jersey. “And I am voting for President Obama.”

Vince Carter has been an outspoken supporter of Obama, holding a $30,000 per plate fundraiser for the president earlier this year. Alonzo Mourning was of a part a NBA-heavy fundraiser for Obama in August which raised $3 million in New York City.

theGrio: Greg Anthony featured in new ad supporting Mitt Romney

Fellow North Carolina Tar Heel and current NBA rookie Harrison Barnes is wasting little time getting involved in the political arena. He attended part of the New York fundraiser for Obama and is now officially involved in a campaign ad.

Friday, Mitt Romney’s campaign uploaded an ad featuring former NBA point guard Greg Anthony endorsing the GOP challenger and expressing his disappointment in Obama’s economic policies.
