Republican congressman Steve Stockman invited the rodeo clowns from the Missouri State Fair, including the infamous one who wore an Obama mask, to perform at a Texas rodeo.

“Liberals want to bronco bust dissent. But Texans value speech, even if its speech they don’t agree with,” Stockman said on his website. “From Molly Ivins to Louie Gohmert and every opinion between Texans value free and open political speech.  I’m sure any rodeo in Texas would be proud to have performers.”

“Disagreeing with speech is one thing. Banning it and ordering citizens into reeducation classes for mocking a liberal leader is another,” Stockman continued. “Liberals have targeted this man for personal destruction to create a climate of fear.”

The congressman said the Obama mask was a “harmless gag” and claimed that  liberals are “isolating and polarizing anyone who questions Obama.”

The rodeo clowns were banned or ordered to take “sensitivity training.”

Stockman has made waves prior to extending the rodeo clowns an invite to Texas’ 36th Congressional District.

The lawmaker invited conservative rock musician Ted Nugent to President Obama’s State of the Union Address earlier this year.
