During a Christmas Eve service in South Carolina, NewSpring Church Pastor Perry Noble did something that caused some congregation members to pause — he appeared to use the n-word.

Yes. That one.

Soon, tongues were wagging all over the church, and not surprisingly, a clip of the slip up made its way online. The church released a statement saying everyone is just hearing things

In regards to your question about the ‘N’ word, Perry doesn’t use that word and doesn’t address anyone in his life by such a word. He did not use that word in his message and what you perceived as him doing so was [a] matter of words getting jumbled as can happen with anyone who is speaking.

See the video clip of the pastor’s slip of the tongue for yourself.

While no one is leaping to call the pastor racist (at least not yet), the way the word falls so effortlessly from his lips would leave one to believe he has used it before.

It is also worth noting that earlier in this sermon, he also made a joke assuring the congregation that his wife was white even though she has a black sounding name, stating “I have to say that because we have new people [in the church]… because that’s a clarification that you really need to make.”
