Ernie Hudson: President Obama shouldn’t be referred to as anyone’s ‘n***a’

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Larry Wilmore’s decision to close the White House Correspondent’s Dinner by referring to President Obama as his ‘n*gga’ has sparked the full gamut of reactions from African-Americans.

Earlier this week, TMZ caught up with actor Ernie Hudson to weigh in on Wilmore’s use of the word.

“I don’t think it’s cool to say [n***a] to anybody, personally,” Hudson said. “But Obama seems to roll with pretty much whatever they throw at him, so he’s a better man than I am.”

Rev. Al Sharpton has criticized Wilmore for referring to the president this way, saying the colloquialism was used in “poor taste.”

The White House defended the comedian Monday, saying Obama “appreciated the spirit” of Wilmore’s intentions behind the remark.
