If Hillary Clinton wins this election, it may well be because the Obamas went to bat for her.

Although outgoing presidents are not usually this highly involved in the next cycle’s elections, the Obamas have been campaigning hard for Clinton as a defense of their record, even as President Barack Obama is enjoying approval rating consistently in the 50s and Michelle Obama is enjoying skyrocketing popularity as the outgoing first lady.

And this fact isn’t lost on Clinton, who has spent her campaign praising the Obamas’ record and being far more supportive of them than she was prior to her campaign run.

Last week in North Carolina, Clinton praised Obama, saying that he had “pulled our economy out of the ditch that it was in when he became president. He saved the auto industry, he cracked down on Wall Street, he has tackled healthcare, climate change, civil rights, and so much else.”

She also spoke for five minutes about First Lady Michelle Obama, saying, “Seriously — is there anyone more inspiring than Michelle Obama?” And when she introduced the first lady, the crowd sounded far more excited about her than Clinton.

With the Obamas campaigning hard for Clinton in an attempt to cement their legacy, then, it seems the First Family has one final election in them, and tomorrow on Election Day, we’ll see just what kind of difference their support has made.
