GALVESTON, Texas — A man has turned himself in after being charged in a toddler’s beating death.
Dontrel Alexander Sanders has been charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury. He surrendered to a Galveston police office at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Galveston police said Traeshon Young, 2, died on Feb. 27, after Sanders called 911 to report that he was not breathing.
Paramedics removed Traeshon’s shirt and found evidence of severe abuse all over his body, investigators said.
Traeshon’s mother, Porshe Mitchell, 22, was arrested in La Marque on Saturday. She has been charged with endangering a child and injury to a child. She is being held in the Galveston County Jail with bond set at $150,000.
Sanders is Mitchell’s boyfriend, police said.
