UDC president caught up in travel expense controversy
WASHINGTON - The travel controversy comes as student tuition is going up more than 100 percent and the school is asking for $8 million to keep the community college afloat.

University of the District of Columbia President Allen Sessoms said Thursday he takes the blame for not explaining expensive trips that have drawn protests from students and questions from the D.C. Council.
He said he needs special travel accommodations for health reasons.
“I do have to fly with my leg up, otherwise I can’t fly,” Sessoms said. “Doctors orders.”
Sessoms admitted the school doesn’t have a modern record keeping system, but he’s trying to change that.
