Building off the recent repeal of the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” law, the LGBT community wonders whether or not President Obama will move forward and change his position on same-sex marriage. During his run for the U.S. Senate, the president indicated that he supported it. However, he has more recently demonstrated that his core beliefs are against the idea of same-sex marriage and has been politically opposed to the idea as well. Joe Williams, a White House Reporter says, ”…he has regressed a little bit and that’s what a lot of activists are pointing to…”

Though he has improved his record and has been supportive of civil unions, it doesn’t seem to be enough. Supporters believe that they should be able to have the full right to marry in all fifty states and are hoping that the president will continue to warm up the idea of same-sex marriages. His campaign is looking to show progress to his LGBT supporters and they are anticipating that he is on their side, but everyone is wondering where he will really take this issue.
