From the Archives: Thurgood Marshall was an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, and its first African-American justice. Before becoming a judge he was a lawyer, best remembered for arguing Brown v. Board of Education in front of the Supreme Court. Marshall died on this day 19 years ago of heart failure in Bethesda, Maryland. NBC’s Carl Stern reports:
