GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum was quick to condemn a supporter’s comments which suggested he should pretend he’s shooting at President Barack Obama while at a gun range. Santorum called the comments “absurd” and “terrible.” POLITICO reports:
Rick Santorum dismissed as “absurd” a supporter’s suggestion Friday that he imagine President Barack Obama as he went shooting at a gun range, as the Secret Service told traveling reporters they may look into the shouted remark.
Santorum was campaigning in West Monroe, La., when one female audience member called to him that he should “pretend it’s Obama” as he was shooting, POLITICO’s Juana Summers reports. Santorum was too far away to hear the remark.
Asked about the outburst after the event, Santorum condemned it.
“It’s absurd. No, we’re not pretending it’s anybody but shooting pistols. It’s a very terrible and horrible remark and I’m glad I didn’t hear it,” he said, per Juana.
