Mitt Romney defenders: Barack Obama ate dog meat

Jim Treacher, a conservative writer for The Daily Caller, is defending Mitt Romney against online attacks after news leaked of him strapping his family dog to the roof of their car for a drive from Massachusetts to Canada back in 1983. Treacher posted an excerpt from President Obama’s Dreams From My Father, in which he describes having eaten dog meat as a child in Indonesia, and implied that was far worse than what the GOP candidate had done. For the first time, the Mitt Romney campaign is fighting back in the War on Dogs.

The Daily Caller’s Jim Treacher posted a blog item Tuesday with an excerpt from President Barack Obama’s bestselling memoir “Dreams From My Father,” in which Obama writes of eating dog meat when he was a little boy in Indonesia.

With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy). Like many Indonesians, Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the remnants of more ancient animist and Hindu faiths. He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate: One day soon, he promised, he would bring home a piece of tiger meat for us to share.
