Polls released since the Supreme Court’s decision upholding President Obama’s health care law show little has changed: Americans remain divided on both “Obamacare” and their views of the president overall.
A Gallup survey released this week found Obama ahead 48 to 43 percent against Mitt Romney, essentially the same as before the health care ruling. The president has had a slim lead over Mitt Romney for much of the summer, and he appears not to have gotten any kind of bounce from the ruling on health care.
And the polls suggest the court’s ruling has not ended the political divide over the law. In short, Democrats still like it and Republicans don’t. A Pew Research Center survey found that 40 percent of Americans (including 70 percent of Republicans) disapprove of the ruling, while 36 percent approve. That mirrored polling before the Supreme Court decision that showed about 40 percent of Americans like the law and an equal number do not.
