Nicki Minaj compares herself to Jesus Christ on the cross in new track

Nicki Minaj has been promoting her upcoming new album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up, for the past few months and her first single, the Cassie-assisted “The Boys,” has been met with great reviews.

And despite her new gig as a judge on American Idol (beef with Mariah Carey included), and a new reality show special on E!, Nicki Minaj the emcee still wants your respect.

Her new track not only states this but demands it as she compares herself to Jesus Christ.

On “Freedom,” Minaj spits bars reflecting on how her competition and other detractors are so quick to criticize her but not to remember all she’s done as a trailblazer in hip-hop:

“They’ll never thank me for opening doors / But they ain’t even thank Jesus when he died on the cross / Cause your spirit is ungrateful, b*tches is so hateful, I remain a staple”

Comparing herself being a martyr like Jesus may ruffle some feathers but this style of rap is a throwback to Nicki’s original content, where her lyrics were more geared to the streets, with fewer pop influences.

If Nicki continues to rap like this, she may regain some of the core fans that she lost after going mainstream.
