Moviegoers who see Skyfall this weekend will be treated to Adele singing the film’ theme song, entitled “Skyfall,” which she co-wrote and recorded.

According to Yahoo! Music’s Paul Grein, Adele’s “Skyfall,” “has a good chance of becoming the first Bond theme song to win an Oscar.”

Thus far three previous Bond themes have received Academy Award nominations for best song, including Paul McCartney & Wings “Live And Let Die,” for the 1973 movie of the same name; “Nobody Does It Better,” which Carly Simon recorded for the 1977 movie The Spy Who Loved Me; and “For Your Eyes Only,” which Sheena Easton recorded for the 1981 movie of the same name.

During an interview with theGrio’s Chris Witherspoon, Skyfall stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, and Naomie Harris weighed in on the likelihood of Adele winning the Oscar for best song.

Craig admitted that he was a huge fan of Adele and said that he thinks her voice is a perfect fit for a Bond film.

“She’s got something very old fashioned but yet she’s very modern and the fact that we got this song and we’ve got the horns and the big orchestra behind her, I just think it really sets the mood for the movie.”

On whether or not Adele can nab the best song Oscar, Craig said, “She’s won everything else, if anyone can do I think it’s Adele that can win the Oscar.”

Harris, who stars as M6 agent Eve alongside Craig in Skyfall agrees with her co-star about the likelihood of the film’s theme song getting award recognition. “Yeah definitely I think it’s an amazing song and I’m a huge fan of Adele and so I would love for her to get an Oscar for her song. That would be incredible.”

Although Bardem’s preferred first language is Spanish, the actor that plays the villain in the new Bond film agrees that Adele’s voice crosses over any language barriers. “Adele’s talent is recognized worldwide. Her theme song I believe will make a huge impact on people who see Skyfall and the critics.

The 2013 Oscar nominations are set for January 10, and 85th Academy Awards presentation will be televised February 24.
